A new year has begun and thus my final year in my game
development course which has definitely started off very well. This week we
have been beginning to look into emotion in video games and how narrative
driven emotion and mechanic driven emotion can be used to immerse the player.
We were asked to begin thinking of ways to create games that are focused on
emotion and pitch an idea for an iPhone game that can be played with just one
hand that is based on emotion. My team took this very literally and this worked
in our favour as we came up with a very interesting way of combining the
technology already available for the iPhone and our very own game concept.
Through utilizing the heart rate sensor available on the iPhone
6 we came up for an idea that takes the players heart rate before playing the
game and uses it to choose the character that suits the mood that is associated
with that heart rate. This will influence the Weapons by adding different fire
rate and patterns and amounts of health for each character. I am planning on
looking at some more ways to combine technology and video games and any ideas
that you have would be greatly appreciated
