Photo Bashing (Week 5)

Adding on what I had learnt last week, there are some very unique and interesting ways to create concept art as fast as possible with minimal effort, effectively getting an idea across efficiently without the use of traditional drawing. My lecturer introduced the class to a technique known as photo bashing where, as the name suggests, several photos or images are bashed together to create a different image. This is useful for reaching a desired art style in a short amount of time.
We were tasked with creating a visually impressive vehicle from as many images as we could which could easily be considered an actual vehicle. I used a series of different unique items such as vehicles like cars, planes and boats, Diamonds and crystals, lights engines and tools. Photo bashing could seemingly be used with any image depending on the expected outcome of the image. After playing around with these images I managed to produce this monstrosity:

It was intended to look like some sort of hovercraft but I didn’t really get that across. Despite the fact that the image doesn’t appear the way I would have liked it to, I see a lot of potential for photo bashing with practice and a simple Google image search definitely reinforces that statement. Overall I recommend attempting photo bashing if you haven’t because it could save you some time and effort.
