Little did I know
that there are other ways of producing concept art then traditional/ digital
drawing. This week in class my lecturer taught us a very interesting way to
produce concept images in a unique way quickly and efficiently using just a
sheet of paper, a webcam and some simple textures. We simply scrunched the
paper until we felt like we could vaguely see a figure or head of a creature,
then we took a photo of the scrunched up sheet of paper at the best possible
angle we could using the webcam. Using layer masks we painted the textures on
to make the character feel like it had an element of texture influencing it
until it the sheet of paper no longer appeared like a sheet of paper. Finally
we added finishing touches such as eyes and colour to really make the image
pop. Here is an image of the piece I created using this technique in an hour:
Overall I am very pleased with this particular technique and
would enjoy to learn other ways of creating art for my games in a unique and
efficient manner
