Examples of good UI (Week 3)

Many games in fairly recent history have generally good user interface but I have listed 3 of my favourite examples of good UI in 3 Different genres. The first is my favourite game ever Final Fantasy X which is quite unique among other RPGs, it displays what is generally conveyed in turn based RPGs such as Health and Mana, Commands and a Help Display but these take up minimal space to allow the fighting sequences to be easily viewed. A simple bar is added to show the player and enemy turns in order to allow the player to perform actions strategically without feeling that they have been cheated in any way.

The 2nd example is the first person shooter halo 3 which utilizes a consistent blue colour scheme which is very visually appealing and is based on the helmet that the main character wears which assists the player in relating to him. It generally shows what is conventionally shown in FPS games but in a unique and interesting way

The final example is the fighting game series super smash bros which are very minimalistic tending to be desirable in a game where action is the focus. It consists of an icon for each character which with  a portrait of the character for ease of use and simply displays the percentage of damage they have taken allowing them to be knocked out easily
