Open world gaming

An open world game is essentially what the name suggests, it provides an open world where players can freely explore without or with few limitations and take in the beauty of the digital environment they are placed in. Some open worlds are larger than others and take into consideration different facets of gameplay that separates them from one another. They provide us with a sense of freedom that in the real world; would be unachievable (or get us in tremendous amounts of trouble).
This year we have received a beautiful line-up of open world games to consume our time and reduce our productivity. A lot of the most popular and best-selling games to come out this year are open world games such fallout 4, witcher 3 and metal gear solid V. My current favourite game Xenoblade Chronicles X also comes under this genre of gaming. But what makes open world games so fun? The most obvious reason these games are so popular is no game provides more freedom then an open world video game. But why do we enjoy freedom?Without freedom we have nothing in life we would essentially be robots without it, It allows us to choose what we want and what we don’t want to do, The less freedom there is in a game the less it will become a game.

If you took away the freedom to control characters and make choices in games like heavy rain and the walking dead, it would be much less a game and more an extremely drawn out movie. Open world games are generally developed more by western developers as eastern developers are culturally inclined to create more linear video gaming experiences that focus on story and visuals; Often meaning that open world games are very culturally relatable allowing western gamers to catch on with the themes presented in the games fairly easily possibly contributing to the incredible popularity in North America, Australia and European countries. With open world games we have a lot of freedom and opportunities to do things that we would be unable to do in real life, like running over a hooker in GTA 5 for no reason
